2-year postdoctoral opportunity in the Glaciology Group at Swansea

Murray T.
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher
to join the Glaciology Group at Swansea and work within a vibrant group
tacking aspects of the stability of the Greenland Ice Sheet who have an
especial interest in ice-ocean interactions. The post is 2-years in
length and the starting salary is £30,870. The researcher will develop
their own research agenda in collaboration with other members of the
group. There would also be limited opportunities to contribute to
teaching undergraduate students if desired. You can find more
information on Swansea Glaciology online here:

Swansea Glaciology Group is currently around 25 strong (5 academic
staff, 5 postdocs and around 15 postgraduate students). We pride
ourselves on being a friendly and diverse group. We undertake research
and teaching in Glaciology and the Cryosphere, specialising in
understanding the processes that regulate glacier dynamics, flow
instabilities and surging, and glacier fast flow. We use a wide variety
of techniques including geophysics, numerical modelling and remote
sensing, and current field projects span the Arctic, Antarctic and Alps.

The issues that the group aims to address include quantification of the
past and future contribution from glaciers and ice sheets to sea-level
rise; understanding the processes driving the present rapid and dramatic
changes observed in glaciers, and the instabilities inherent in glacial
systems; and understanding the record of palaeo-ice mass instabilities
and the processes that drove these changes.
