3-year postdoctoral opportunity at University of Edinburgh in Ice-sheet modelling and Uncertainty Quantification (REMINDER)

GOLDBERG Daniel
Dear Colleagues

We have an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Edinburgh, funded by the NERC project QUoRUM (QUantifying and Reducing Uncertainty in ice-sheet Model predictions). QUoRUM will make use of automatic code generation tools such as FEniCS and Firedrake to aid with optimisation-based data assimilation and quantification of uncertainties of a fast-thinning region of West Antarctica.

The postholder will join a team of investigators in the Schools of GeoScience and Mathematics in the University of Edinburgh. Their work will focus on refining an existing ice-sheet dynamics assimilation and uncertainty-quantification framework (ICE_tangent, developed using the FEniCS software library) and applying it to a multidecadal observational record of the Amundsen region of West Antarctica.

The post is full time, and funded until the 31st December 2022.

Further details and instructions on how to apply can be found here:
Please note the application closing date of 25 November.

Sincerely
