3-year postdoctoral opportunity at University of Edinburgh in Ice-sheet modelling and Uncertainty Quantification (REMINDER)
We have an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Edinburgh, funded by the NERC project QUoRUM (QUantifying and Reducing Uncertainty in ice-sheet Model
predictions). QUoRUM will make use of automatic code generation tools such as FEniCS and Firedrake to aid with optimisation-based data assimilation and quantification of
uncertainties of a fast-thinning region of West Antarctica.
The postholder will join a team of investigators in the Schools of GeoScience and Mathematics in the University of Edinburgh. Their work will focus on refining an existing ice-sheet
dynamics assimilation and uncertainty-quantification framework (ICE_tangent, developed using the FEniCS software library) and applying it to a multidecadal observational record of the Amundsen region of West Antarctica.
The post is full time, and funded until the 31st December 2022.
