AGU session: C13. Missing Links in Ice Sheet Models: Innovations in Process Scale Models and Observations
Dear Cryolist members,
We would like to draw your attention to the upcoming AGU session: C13. Missing Links in Ice Sheet Models: Innovations in Process Scale Models and Observations.
Efforts are underway to expand ice sheet models beyond their shallow ice origins to include higher-order and full-Stokes dynamics. However, any increased accuracy of these more complicated models may be negated by uncertainty in parameterizations of key glaciological processes (e.g., basal friction, glacial hydrology, iceberg calving, ocean interaction). Realistic predictions of the glaciological contribution to sea level rise requires improvements in quantitative representation of the key glaciological processes that control ice sheet evolution.
This session solicits studies that explore quantitative models and their relationship to observations of vital glaciological processes. We welcome all observational and modeling related abstracts to this session. Abstracts are due September 2nd.
