APECS webinar: Nov 8th- Responsible Data Use and Managing Your Own Data

APECS Director
The Association of Polar Early Career Scientist invites you to join our final Career Development webinar  for this semester on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011 at 17:00 GMT. ***NOTE: DAYLIGHT SAVING MAY IMPACT YOUR LOCAL START TIME FOR THE WEBINAR*** Visit http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html to convert to your time zone or double check your local start time. The full schedule of presentations and recordings of previous webinars are available at http://apecs.is/webinars.

This week's webinar is entitled "Responsible Data Use and Managing Your Own Data" and will be presented by Ruth Duerr, Data Stewardship Program Manager, National Snow and Ice Data Center .  Scientists are often reluctant to talk to the media about their work. Do you know how to use data from your colleagues or an archive in a responsible and ethical manner?  Are your local data management practices, the practices you use on a day-to-day basis sound?  If the answer to either of these questions is no, then this webinar is for you.  This webinar will provide an overview of everything you need to know in order to deal with not only your own data but also to use other people's data ethically and in a responsible manner.

Due to the HUGE response and popularity of these webinars, the University of Canterbury has increased the number of spots available to 100, but space is still expected to fill up. To reserve a spot in the webinar, please send an email to: [hidden email]. Any remaining spots will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Adobe Connect Pro software will be used to conduct the Career Development webinars. The software requires that Abode Flash Player be installed on participants' computers. If your computer does not already have Adobe Flash, please install it at: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/.
