Abstract submission now open for the Fairbanks, Alaska 2012 IGS sponsored 'International Symposium on and Ice Sheets in a Warming Climate'

Magnus Magnusson

Dear Cryolist members

The abstract submission is now open for the 2012 IGS sponsored 'International Symposium on Glaciers and Ice Sheets in a Warming Climate' to be held in Fairbanks, Alaska this summer, 25–29 June 2012.

Please go to http://www.igsoc.org/symposia/2012/alaska/ and click on the 'Abstract submission'. Please note the abstract submission for all the symposia and meetings that the IGS is involved with will show up on the submission page. So please be careful to select the correct symposia.

You will have to register before you can submit but that will allow you to go back to you submission end edit it as up until you confirm your submission. So you can take your time with the submission, revisit it and ensure everything is correct before finally confirming your submission.

We are organizing two excursions in conjunction with this symposium. A two day pre-symposium excursion into Denali National Park including 'flightseeing'. This is a unique opportunity to visit the park with expert guides and to see some of the wildlife and the fabulous  scenery.

There will also be a three and a half day post symposium excursion to Valdez including visits of Gulkana and Worthington Glaciers and a boat trip to Columbia and Meares Glacier. The excursion will primarily be guided by Roman Motyka and Jason Amundson. Again an excellent opportunity to experience some of Alaska's natural beauty. More information on the website http://glaciers.gi.alaska.edu/events/igs2012

The second circular is posted on the IGS website http://www.igsoc.org/symposia/2012/alaska/alaska2ndcircular_red.pdf

You can also preregister for the symposium at http://www.igsoc.org/symposia/2012/alaska/preregistration/, that will ensure you get all the relevant notifications relating to the symposium.

And remember the registration fee for IGS members is lower so please renew your membership and if you are not a member please consider joining.

All the best

Magnús
