Aeolian sediment traps in snow environments

Cliff Atkins
Dear Colleagues,

We are trying to find information on aeolian sediment traps for use on sea ice and ice shelf environments in Antarctica. In these situations, there is a large volume of windblown snow which fills conventional sediment traps very quickly.

Does anyone know of an existing trap or design that may be suitable? Perhaps an heated or glycol antifreeze trap to reduce snow buildup?

Any information or suggestions are most welcome.

Regards
