Department of Geology and School of Integrative Biology

The Department of Geology in the School of Earth, Society, and Environment, and the School of Integrative Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in the broadly defined area of Global Change Geology. Examples of relevant research areas include but are not limited to:

1. The global carbon cycle, including connections to the deep Earth, weathering, and carbon sequestration.

2. Paleoclimatology, isotope or organic geochemistry, and other studies of environmental change records.

3. Studies of Earth materials and elements (e.g., clathrates, nitrogen, iron, sulfur) related to climate and the evolution of life.

4. Earth science studies of modern environmental change.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program, teach at undergraduate and graduate levels, and collaborate with faculty to develop research initiatives in global change and Earth system science. A Ph.D. is required at time of appointment. Applicants are expected to present evidence of excellence in research and teaching.  The target starting date is August 16, 2013. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
