CANQUA 2013 special session: Past and present ice sheet and glacier hydrology
The Canadian Quaternary Association (CANQUA) will be holding its
biennial meeting in Edmonton, Alberta, August 18-22, 2013.
The following CGRG-sponsored special session is planned for this conference:
Past and present ice sheet and glacier hydrology
Meltwater is an important component of glacier systems controlling their flow dynamics and stability, and impacting the pace of glacier decay. Yet the spatial and temporal variability of glacier plumbing systems and their necessary links to glacier dynamics and decay are not fully understood. This session welcomes papers relating to any aspect of glacier hydrology past or present. This may include, but is not restricted to, the reconstruction or modelling of: i) meltwater routing beneath glaciers and ice sheets; ii) meltwater storage and outburst floods; and iii) glacial lake (paleo)geography and evolution.
Please contact either Andrew Perkins ([hidden email]) or Tracy Brennand ([hidden email]), session co-conveners, if you are interested in contributing to this session or would like further details. The abstract deadline is April 15, 2013. Further information about CANQUA 2013 may be found at the conference website http://www.eas.ualberta.ca/canqua/
Please feel free to distribute this to others who may be interested.
