Call for Participation: 2021 Special Issue
on “Marine Ecosystem and Climate Change in the Southern Ocean”
We are pleased to inform you our upcoming
Special Issue “Marine Ecosystem and Climate Change in the Southern Ocean” in
the journal of Advances in Polar Science (APS) (you can see the details: http://www.aps-polar.org/news/details/M201130000002a5d8
). This issue is to be published as a general issue of APS (Volume 32, Issue 3)
in September of 2021.
We would like to highlight that Articles
published in APS, and professional English-edit service for non-English native
authors are free of charge with generous funding from Polar Research Institute
of China (PRIC), and we aim to have 15--20 contributions for this promising collection.
The ecosystem in the Southern Ocean is
complicated and unique in the world. In the context of global warming, any change
of environment in the Southern Ocean, such as variations of sea ice coverage
and water masses, increasing of fresh water influx from Antarctic ice sheet,
will influence the marine ecosystem. However, the knowledge of this marine
ecosystem and its response to the climate change is limited.
The main purpose of this volume is to
understand the changes of basic marine environment (including paleo-environment)
in the Southern Ocean, diversity of marine populations at different trophic
levels and its control factors, the material and energy flows in the ecosystem,
and the potential response of populations and ecosystem to the climate and
