Call for southCOP 2019 abstract submissions - due April 7th

Nicole Schaffer

Dear Colleagues,

Abstract submissions for southCOP 2019 close this Sunday April 7th. Please consider submitting an abstract to the session on “Rock glacier identification, dynamics, and hydrological importance”. Abstract guidelines and a link to submit abstracts is available at Early bird registration closes October 20th. This year the conference will be held in Queenstown, New Zealand, 4-14 of December. Conference information, including optional field trips, is available at

Session on “Rock glacier identification, dynamics, and hydrological importance”

Rock glaciers are found in high alpine regions around the world. While publications on their hydrological importance are limited, available research suggests that they are important water reservoirs and may significantly contribute to streamflow in some regions. With a growing scientific interest in rock glaciers, there is a need to standardize inventories and classification schemes. We invite you to submit abstracts related to rock glacier identification, dynamics and hydrological importance. For example, studies focused on inventories and classification of rock glaciers/permafrost landforms , rock glacier ice volume, their contribution to streamflow, or impact on water flow paths.

We are looking forward to your submissions!

Kind regards,

Nicole Schaffer and Shelley MacDonell
