Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the following session on sea ice at the AGU Fall meeting (3-7 Dec, San Francisco). Please note that the abstract deadline is 8 August.

C003: Arctic and Antarctic Sea Ice Processes and Properties

Recent years have seen a dramatic reduction in the extent and thickness of Arctic Ocean sea ice and redistribution and modest increases in ice extent in the Southern Ocean. The inability of climate models to predict these changes suggests the need for more accurate representation of sea ice processes in models. Ongoing changes in sea ice physical properties are also affecting the biogeochemistry of the polar seas. This session examines sea ice and its snow cover, and the interactions and feedbacks with the atmosphere and ocean. We welcome remote sensing, field, laboratory, and modeling studies of the processes that affect the properties of Arctic and Antarctic sea ice.
