Curatorial Specialist Job Opening at the Oregon State University Marine and Geology Repository (Deadline Extended to April 4)

Joseph Stoner
OSU has received a pair of grants from the National Science Foundation to assume the curatorial stewardship of the Antarctic and Southern Ocean National Collection of Rock and Sediment Cores, housed at Florida State University since the mid-1960s. We seek a Curatorial specialist who would manage the day-to-day operation of the Antarctic Core Collection (ACC) at the OSU Marine and Geology Repository (MGR) (http://osu-mgr.org) while also providing outreach to the community.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Manage and disseminate data and metadata via the MGR website and databases. Review sample requests and provide samples of cores stored at the MGR for any qualified request. Connect researchers seeking samples w/ PIs who have previously worked on cores.  Organize visits and sampling parties to the facility by national and international researchers. Organize visits by school groups to the MGR for educational tours, organize summer schools, supervise student workers at the MGR. Manage scientific equipment housed at the MGR as a shared use facility. Train researchers on the operation of scientific equipment housed at MGR, potentially for use and support of seagoing expeditions on the R/V Palmer or other research vessels.
Oregon State will house the expanded collection in a sophisticated new facility located just off-campus.
Question can be directed to PI Anthony Koppers ([hidden email]) or co-PI Joseph Stoner ([hidden email])
Applications must be received by April 4, 2017.  Applications will continue to be accepted after the full consideration date, until a sufficient applicant pool has been achieved or the position is filled.
All the best,
Anthony Koppers and Joe Stoner (co-directors, OSU-MGR)
