ESF-Summerschool "Ice and Snow" Obergurgl/Tyrol/Austria

This is an information for undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs, who want to participate in a one-week school about "ice":

The interdisciplinary summer school about "Microstructures of ice and snow" will take place from Aug.26 - Sep.1
in Austria in the Ötztaler Alpen in Obergurgl, near Innsbruck!

There will be a field day, a career day and lectures about sea ice, polar ice, extraterrestrial ice, ice cores, snow, glaciers, life in ice, ice in industry, etc.

Lecturers will be:

·         Denis Samyn, Dpt of Mechanical Engineering, Nagaoka University of Technology , Japan
·         Denes Szabo, Institute for snow and avalanche research, Davos, Switzerland
·         Ilka Weikusat, Alfred Wegener Institute, Bremerhaven, Germany
·         Paul Bons, Geosciences, Eberhard Karls University Tuebingen, Germany
·         Jane Blackford, University of Edinburgh, UK
·         Matti Leppäranta, University of Helsinki, Finland
·         group of Georg Kaser, University of Innsbruck, Austria
·         Markus Tilg/Birgit Sattler, University of Innsbruck, Austria
·         Thomas Loerting, University of Innsbruck, Austria

Accommodation, all meals and travel between Innsbruck and Obergurgl are covered by ESF funds! Places are still available for students and postdocs – Registration deadline: August 1st
