IPCC SREX expert review

Georg Kaser
Dear Colleagues,

in the run-up to the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report, Working Groups I
and II of the IPCC are currently producing a joint special report
'Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate
Change Adaptation' (SREX). The Second Order Draft of SREX is currently
available for expert review, during a review period which ends Monday,
1 April 2011.

It would be very useful and important if a series of cryospheric
experts could provide their input. If you would be happy to assist in
this role, you should confirm your interest with an email to the
Technical Support Unit of IPCC Working Group II at [hidden email]
requesting access information for the SREX second order draft review
site. Please use a subject line "SREX SOD Review Access".

There are several chapters and sections in which glaciers, snow, and
permafrost related issues are addressed. The Chapter outline for SREX
can be viewed at
http://www.ipcc-wg2.gov/AR5/extremes-sr/approved_outline.html. Of
particular cryospheric interest are Chapters 3 and 4, but you will
find (or miss) respective portions also in the other Chapters.

With kind regards,

Georg Kaser
