MSc/PhD/Fieldwork Opportunities in Arctic Hydrology at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada

Evan Wilcox

The Arctic Hydrology Research Group (AHRG) at the Cold Regions Research Centre (Dept. of Geography, Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario) is seeking a MSc or PhD student to start Fall 2019, and to participate in Arctic fieldwork over the Summer of 2019. Broad research topics include controls on runoff in continuous permafrost environments in stream catchments and lakes, links between winter and summer hydrology, and can be finalized in discussions with Dr. Philip Marsh. Fieldwork would extend from June – August, and will be based at the Trail Valley Creek Research Station located north of Inuvik, Northwest Territories.  In addition, we are also seeking a BSc student to participate in the summer field work as a field assistant to a team of researchers working out of the Trail Valley Research Station.  Applicants with previous Arctic fieldwork experience are preferred. Wilderness first aid and a firearms possession and acquisition license are required, but can be completed before the field work begins. Positions are dependent on funding approval.
