Postdoctoral Research Assistant position (five year
term) in 'Meteorology/Climatology' at the Chair of Climatology, Department of
Ecology, Technische Universitaet Berlin, Germany.
Research on numerical atmospheric modelling using
the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. Focus will be on active
involvement in running and planned research projects in the Arctic, Tibet,
Morocco, Peru and Berlin. The candidate should also have experience in model
validation by satellite data, e.g. from MODIS or TRMM. Teaching load is four
hours per semester. Courses and lectures may be held in German or English.
Who can apply:
Graduation with a good doctoral degree within the
last five years from a recognized university in a relevant scientific
discipline. The applicant has to provide a record of relevant publications in
peer-reviewed scientific journals, as well as oral/poster contributions at
international scientific conferences. Knowledge of computational skills (e.g.
IDL, FORTRAN, C) is essentiell. Good oral and written communication skills in
English are required.
The position is available from October 1, 2010, for
a period of five years according to a civil service position (Vgr. IIa BAT;
Anwendungs-TV-Berliner Hochschulen) including extensive social security
