The project requires readiness for week-long expeditions to establish measurement fields and experiments in the central Lena River Delta (RU).
The assessment of SAR data for the retrieval of freeze/thaw processes and subsidence in permafrost regions is part of a cooperation with the University Oslo (NO), and the German Space
The development of a permafrost model will be realized in close collaboration between the AWI and the University Oslo.
Master/Diplom in physics, meteorology, geosciences or similar discipline; field work experience, excellent team work capabilities in a multidisciplinary team; fluency in English
(written and spoken), programming skills (C++, Matlab). Beneficial: radar remote sensing experience, geomatics/image processing
The positions will be funded for three years. The successful candidate will work within an active multidisciplinary
research group focussing on permafrost research.
