PhD position on ocean/ice-sheet/climate interaction modelling at TU Delft, The Netherlands
The Department of Geoscience & Remote Sensing of TU Delft, Netherlands, invites researchers who are interested in ocean/cryosphere/climate interactions to apply for a PhD position to them for the cases
of the future Greenland ice sheet evolution and the last deglaciation of the massive northern hemisphere ice sheets. In particular, the project focuses on how ice sheets affect ocean circulation and viceversa. The tools for this project are the Community Earth
System Model (http://www.cesm.ucar.edu/) coupled to the Community Ice Sheet Model (http://oceans11.lanl.gov/cism/index.html).
The ocean model in CESM is POP.
Requirements: applicants should have a strong background in oceanography, physics, meteorology, Earth Sciences, mathematics and/or computer science. Additionally: a)Strong
skills in programming and numerical modelling, b)Experience
with ocean and/or climate modelling, c) Excellent communication skills in written and oral English
