Phd fellow in palaeo-glaciology and marine geology
UiT The Arctic University of Norway has a PhD position vacant affiliated to the Centre for Arctic Gas Hydrates, Environment and Climate (CAGE), hosted by the Department of Geosciences in
Quaternary Arctic ice sheets covered vast geological carbon reservoirs, and the aim of this PhD project is to investigate how past periods of retreat and advance of these ice sheets influenced carbon storage and release, and the key factors
that have driven the timing and magnitude of this. The successful candidate will use various marine geophysical/geological datasets to reconstruct Late Quaternary ice sheet change on the northeast Greenland continental shelf, and how this has interacted with
deeper geological carbon reservoirs.
