Post doctoral position, Bristol Glaciology Centre

JL Bamber

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in satellite remote sensing/glaciology (vacancy ref. 16861)

Bristol Glaciology Centre

University of Bristol

The aim of the project is to produce a reconstruction of Antarctic mass trends, synthesising complementary measurements from (i) radar and laser altimetry, (ii) mass budget estimates, (iii) satellite gravity measurements (GRACE), and (iv) vertical motion from GPS. This synthesis will also provide an estimate of glacio-isostatic adjustment, and pave the way for more accurate projections of the Antarctic ice-sheet contribution to sea-level rise.

A background in some aspect of environmental sciences would be advantageous but not essential.  You should have experience in the analysis, interpretation, and visualisation of satellite datasets such as altimetry, GRACE and/or SAR.

If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed-term or a permanent contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research experience. Further information can be found at The funding for the post is for three years.

Interviews are likely to be held in the week commencing 23 January, and the expected start date is February/March. Informal enquires welcome.
