Jeremy Bassis
Dear Colleagues,

We are seeking an Ice Sheet Modeler to work at the University of Michigan implementing a novel damage mechanics scheme into DOE’s BISICLES and MPAS ice sheet models.  The ideal candidate will serve as a postdoctoral researcher and have a PhD in glaciology or a related field and will have prior experience working with numerical models.  This is a collaborative project and candidates are expected to collaborate with a diverse team within the University of Michigan and with our partners at Los Alamos and other DOE labs. The 5-year project is focused on improving probabilistic sea level projections. The University of Michigan will lead the team implementing and evaluating models of damage mechanics within the DOE modeling framework.  The initial appointment will be for one year, with the opportunity to renew provided satisfactory progress and continuation of funding. The University of Michigan is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all persons and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, religion, height, weight, or veteran status in employment.  Please contact Jeremy Bassis ([hidden email]) to apply or seek any addition information about this position.

Regards,,
Jeremy Bassis
