Workshop on "Glaciers, Snow Melt and Runoff in the Himalayas"; February 6-7, 2012, Kathmandu: PLEASE REGISTER NOW

Markus Stoffel
Dear colleagues

We would like to raise your attention for the following Trans-Himalayan workshop organized by ICIMOD, the EU-FP7 project HighNoon, the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC) on

Glaciers, Snow Melt and Runoff in the Himalayas

The workshop is going to take place February 6–7 2012 in Kathmandu, Nepal and aims at bringing together regional and international researchers, government administration and donor agencies to discuss the current state of cryospheric and glacio-hydrologic research in the wider Hindu Kush – Himalayan region. More specifically, the workshop is intended to address the state of current knowledge on the consequences of ongoing climatic changes on glaciers, snow melt and runoff and to identify the most important gaps in knowledge where action will be most needed in the future. A status report will be produced after the workshop which will be used as input for implementation plans during a second workshop organized by ICIMOD in late April / early May 2012.

Please visit the dedicated web site for further details: http://www.eu-highnoon.org/workshopkathmandu2012
